Winners and Losers of the Week

Each week, we take a look at the biggest friends and foes of labor. We celebrate the workers winning big and small battles, and we shame the companies or people trying to deny working people their rights.

Winners: Chris Kluwe, and other current and former members of professional sports unions, for rejecting Donald Trump's claim that his vulgar and predatory comments were just "locker room" talk. As someone who has been in many locker rooms over the years, Donald is really, really wrong.

Runner-Up: Illinois' HIRE Education program, which prepares women, people of color and the formerly incarcerated for union apprenticeships.

Loser: Donald Trump. Again. There are so many reasons he is a loser this week. We'll focus on how he used Chinese steel and aluminum in recent construction projects, which makes his claim to create jobs in the United States ring false.

Runners-Up: Corporate tax dodgers. According to a new report, the taxable profits sheltered by nearly 300 Fortune 500 companies is nearly double that of last year’s federal budget deficit of $438 billion.
