Rep. Kurt Schrader, Don’t Take Overtime Protections from Working People

A little more than a year ago, President Barack Obama called on the Department of Labor to implement a new overtime protection rule. Hundreds of thousands of Americans spoke up, and we were able to get the rule passed.

But now, Rep. Kurt Schrader (D-Ore.) is working to pass a bill that would delay this rule and stop millions of people from getting fully paid for the work they do. We worked too hard to give working people this raise, and we will not allow anyone to stop this important change without a fight.

Schrader wants to delay the starting date of the new overtime rule. Even worse than that, he wants to totally get rid of the language that would keep these overtime protections from falling behind as inflation rises. This is one of the major reasons we needed to have this rule passed in the first place, but now Schrader wants to remove this important fix.

Families are counting on this to make sure they can make ends meet. We have to speak up now to make sure we protect this rule for the millions of women, men and children who stand to benefit from having more money in their pockets and more time with family.

Sign the petition telling Schrader to drop his push for a bill that would delay the overtime rule from going into effect and giving millions of working people a raise.
