Shenise Turner-Sloss

This year, for Black History Month, we're taking a look at a group of leaders who are currently active making Black history across the labor movement. Check back daily for a new profile and meet some of the people working to improve not only their community, but also to improve conditions for working people across the country. Today's profile is Shenise Turner-Sloss of AFGE:

On Jan. 3, 2022, AFGE Local 1138 member Shenise Turner-Sloss began her term as Dayton City commissioner in Ohio—after winning her election by 53 votes on Nov. 2. She's only the third Black woman to serve on the commission. Turner-Sloss is from Dayton and works as a logistics management specialist at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base.
