Throughout Native American Heritage Month, the AFL-CIO will be profiling leaders and activists to spotlight the diverse contributions Native Americans have made to the labor movement and toward expanding the rights of working people. Today's profile features David Midthunder and IATSE.

David Midthunder, a Theatrical Stage Employees (IATSE) member and a rigging grip, is very involved in the Native American community through spiritual and cultural practices and encouraging Indigenous youth to get involved in the film business. His heritage is Sisseton Dakota, Cree Speakers Band Nakoda and Hunkpapa Lakota. He is also an enrolled tribal member of the Fort Peck Indian Reservation in Montana.
