Letter in Support of the Nomination of Richard Griffin to General Counsel of the NLRB

Dear Senator:

On behalf of the 12 million working men and women represented by the unions of the AFL-CIO, I am writing to urge your support for the nomination of Richard Griffin to be General Counsel of the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) when it comes before the Senate for a vote later today.

Mr. Griffin is superbly qualified for this job.  He began his legal career at the NLRB, serving as staff counsel to two different members of the NLRB.  Griffin then joined the legal staff of the International Union of Operating Engineers, rising to the position of General Counsel, where he oversaw the union’s legal operation and served as a trustee to the union’s pension plan.

Mr. Griffin has deep knowledge of labor law and decades of practical experience in this area. He will serve the NLRB with distinction. We urge your support for his confirmation to this important post.

Sincerely,

William Samuel, Director
Government Affairs Department
