General Holiefield began his UAW career in 1973 at a Chrysler assembly plant. He rose through the ranks of his local union and was first elected international vice president in 2006. Among General Holiefield’s responsibilities was directing UAW’s Chrysler Department, and he has been credited with helping to bring Chrysler back to profitability after the Great Recession’s devastation of the auto industry. A long-time political and community activist, he is a lifetime NAACP member and has served on the NAACP’s board of directors.
General Holiefield joined the AFL-CIO Executive Council in 2010 and has served on the Civil and Human Rights, International Affairs and Strategic Approaches committees.
We wish General Holiefield well in his retirement.
