Executive Council Statement

On the Service of George E. McCubbin III

The AFL-CIO Executive Council recognizes the distinguished service of George E. McCubbin III, former national vice president for AFGE’s 12th District, which covers Arizona, California, Hawaii and Nevada.

As a union advocate, McCubbin worked tirelessly to organize more workers and grow the union family. He worked for the U.S. Border Patrol for 27 years and served as National Border Patrol Council (NBPC) president and executive vice president.

As NBPC executive vice president, McCubbin oversaw 16 locals and negotiated policies to ensure smooth day-to-day operations of the locals.

In 2017, McCubbin was elected to the AFL-CIO Executive Council during the federation’s quadrennial convention.

McCubbin was born and raised in San Diego and has served his country throughout his career. He began his federal government service as a military police officer with the U.S. Army. His granddaughter currently serves in the Army and is the fourth generation of McCubbins to wear the uniform.

George McCubbin has served the labor movement and America with honor and a deep commitment to working people, and we wish him well in his next endeavors.
