Vice President Martin Maddaloni has devoted over forty years to the trade union movement and to his union, the United Association of Journeymen and Apprentices of the Plumbing and Pipe Fitting Industry of the United States and Canada. He began his union career when he joined Steamfitters Local 420 in his hometown of Philadelphia. He rose through the ranks from business manager to international representative and ultimately to election as General President at the 1996 United Association General Convention. He was re-elected at the 2001 Convention. His commitment to insuring that the professional skills and technical proficiency of his members met the highest standards is demonstrated by his leadership in providing the necessary funding for their training.
Maddaloni was elected an AFL-CIO Vice President in 1995 and has contributed to the Executive Council as vice chair of the committee on Legislation and as a member of the committee on Public Policy, Article XX & XXI Review, and Union Sportsmen of America. He serves on the Board of Directors of ULLICO. In June 2004, he received his Bachelor of Arts degree from the George Meany Center-National Labor College.
