Today is Women’s Equality Day and we’re celebrating the 19th Amendment. But we still have work to do. Add your name to say you support our freedom to vote and will protect voting rights. Women lead in our unions (including the federation of labor unions, the AFL-CIO), in space and as CEOs of Fortune 500 companies.

On Sunday, the Senate passed the Inflation Reduction Act. The legislation will be voted on in the House on Friday and is expected to pass. Then it goes to President Biden for his signature. Once the process is completed, the legislation will represent a significant victory for working families.

This 2022 edition of “Death on the Job: The Toll of Neglect” marks the 31st year the AFL-CIO has produced a report on the state of safety and health protections for America’s workers. This report features national and state information on workplace fatalities, injuries and illnesses, as well as the workplace safety inspections, penalties, funding, staffing and public employee coverage under the Occupational Safety and Health Act. It also includes information on the state of mine safety and health and the state of worker safety during the COVID-19 pandemic.

One year ago, President Joe Biden signed the American Rescue Plan into law. The spending package was targeted at getting working people the support they needed during an unprecedented economic and global health crisis. This was an historic achievement that brought so many often marginalized groups front and center.

Pittsburgh played host last week to the inaugural E.U.-U.S. Trade and Technology Council meeting. Leaders from the European Union and the United States, including co-chairs of the council Secretary of Commerce Gina Raimondo, U.S. Trade Representative Katherine Tai and Secretary of State Antony Blinken, discussed issues ranging from technology standards to global trade to supply chain security during the day-and-a-half conference.
