More than 4,700 SEIU-United Healthcare Workers West (SEIU-UHW) members at eight Sutter Health facilities across Northern California have successfully leveraged a major strike threat to reach a tentative agreement on their new contract.

Nontenure track (NTT) faculty at the University of San Diego (USD)—who are represented by Service Employees International Union (SEIU) Local 721—ratified their first union contract on Friday in a landslide vote.

Workers at Kaman’s Art Shoppes—who bring magic to the San Diego Zoo experience through creating caricatures, letter brush art and body art for guests—voted overwhelmingly to form a union with Theatrical Stage Employees (IATSE) Local 122.

United Food and Commercial Workers (UFCW) Local 8-Golden State announced that the union has secured a tentative agreement with The Raley’s Companies, covering 6,000 workers at supermarkets across Central and Northern California.

The American Guild of Musical Artists (AGMA) and San Francisco Opera announced a new two-year collective bargaining agreement, ratified by AGMA’s Board of Governors on Aug. 25.
