Whirlpool Corp. just announced that, effective March 9, nearly 400 more layoffs will occur at its Amana, Iowa, manufacturing facility. The IAM Union currently represents 1,300 production workers at this plant. However, more than 3,000 IAM members worked at the facility just a few years ago.

As part of the IAM Union Midwest Territory Honoring, Engaging, Lifting, Providing and Servicing (HELPS) initiative, members of IAM District 6 gathered donations and distributed resources to homeless veterans in Des Moines, Iowa.

The “It’s Better In a Union” bus tour made its way to Des Moines, Iowa, on Saturday. State Attorney General candidate Nate Willems, local small business owners and Medicaid recipients joined AFSCME members and union leaders for a press conference to hold Sen. Joni Ernst and Reps. Zach Nunn and Mariannette Miller-Meeks accountable for their votes to pass the federal budget bill.
