These courageous NCAA football players are making history today – not simply by casting a vote, but by highlighting a much-needed national debate. Whatever the outcome of today’s vote, the AFL-CIO and the American labor movement will stand with these athletes every step of the way – for fairness and a voice at work.
I believe athletic unions will ultimately push our entire university system toward justice and equality. College athletes work their hearts out, put everything on the line and generate millions upon millions of dollars in revenue. These players want some impact on the institutions that affect them so strongly, and they should have it.
