The Post Office was established 235 years ago by the U.S. Constitution, and the obligation to provide uniform postal services throughout the United States is also stated in Section 8 of the U.S. Constitution.
The ability to move goods and services through the Postal Service is a vital part of the nation’s economy, and the Postal Service is consistently rated by citizens as one of the most trusted and dependable government agencies.
Americans depend on the Postal Service to make timely delivery of important items, such as medical supplies, business communications and time-sensitive periodicals.
Denying Americans six days of mail delivery will weaken their confidence in the agency’s ability to meet their personal and business needs and lead to the ultimate demise of this important government service,
The AFL-CIO strongly supports retaining six days of mail delivery.
