Protecting the Collective Bargaining Rights and Economic Security of Postal Employees

Chicago, Ill.

WHEREAS, on July 31, 2003, the President’s Commission on the United States Postal Service issued its final report; and

WHEREAS, the AFL-CIO is on record as opposing “any change that would threaten the economic security or collective bargaining rights of the employees of the U.S. Postal Service;” and

WHEREAS, many of the Commission’s recommendations directly undermine the right of postal employees and their unions to engage in meaningful collective bargaining and threaten the wages, benefits, and economic security of postal employees; therefore it is hereby

RESOLVED, that the AFL-CIO and its affiliates oppose the recommendations of the President’s Commission to change any of the existing laws protecting the collective bargaining rights and economic security of postal employees.
