Black History Month Profiles: Belva Davis

Belva Davis

This year, for Black History Month, we're taking a look at a group of leaders who are currently active making Black history across the labor movement. Check back daily for a new profile and meet some of the people working to improve not only their community, but also to improve conditions for working people across the country. Today's profile is Belva Davis of SAG-AFTRA.

Belva Davis made history in 1966 when she became the first Black woman to appear as an on-air TV reporter on the West Coast. Her award-winning coverage made her a Bay Area-institution for half a century before her 2012 retirement. Her decades of work serving as a union leader will forever affect equity and inclusion in broadcasting and the labor movement.
