Working people across the United States have stepped up to help out our friends, neighbors and communities during these trying times. In our regular Service + Solidarity Spotlight series, we'll showcase one of these stories every day. Here’s today’s story.
Members of Boilermakers (IBB) Local 169 in Detroit were recognized for their outstanding safety record as the national winner of the 2021 John F. Erickson NACBE Award. The award is given out annually by the National Association of Construction Boilermaker Employers (NACBE). Local 169 Business Manager and Secretary-Treasurer Bob Hutsell (pictured above, right) accepted the national safety award last week on the local’s behalf.
Overall statistics showed that safety incident rates for 2021 were down from previous years, despite the challenges of working through the pandemic. IBB locals 13 (Philadelphia), 455 (Sheffield, Alabama) and 92 (Los Angeles) also received awards from NACBE for best safety record in their respective regions.
