For Pride Month this year, the AFL-CIO is spotlighting various LGBTQIA+ workers who have worked and continue to work at the intersection of civil and labor rights in the United States. Today's profile is Carl Mulert of IATSE.
Carl Mulert is the national business agent at United Scenic Artists, IATSE Local USA 829. He has worked in the entertainment industry for 42 years and is the first openly gay member of the IATSE General Executive Board. In addition to negotiating contracts across multiple industries; bolstering diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives; and organizing workers, Mulert serves the broader IATSE community through his work on the Pride Committee.
