For Pride Month this year, the AFL-CIO is spotlighting various LGBTQIA+ workers who have worked and continue to work at the intersection of civil and labor rights in the United States. Today's profile is Andrew Rivas of the Nevada State AFL-CIO.
A second-generation Teamster, Andrew Rivas joined the union in 2013 when he started his career at UPS. As a steward, he assists members and other stewards with LGBTQ+ issues and grievances. As a political field organizer, he conducts political education and outreach with his fellow Teamsters and AFL-CIO affiliates, including pro-labor legislative efforts in Nevada.
