Working people across the United States regularly step up to help out our friends, neighbors and communities during these trying times. In our Service & Solidarity Spotlight series, we’ll showcase one of these stories every day. Here’s today’s story.
WellSpan Chambersburg Hospital and the union representing 1,400 hospital workers, the Service Employees International Union (SEIU) Healthcare Pennsylvania, reached an agreement on a new contract.
The three-year contract with union workers includes a wage package of 3.5% in each of the next three years, protections against job outsourcing, two emergency days for newer employees and the preservation of all benefits from the previous contract.
"Not having to strike, we really appreciate just being able to go to work," said Gayle Alleman, RN. "The commitment to this community is just phenomenal and outstanding."
