Statement by AFL-CIO President Richard Trumka on the pending Fixing America’s Surface Transportation (FAST) Act in the US Congress:
The FAST Act is critical and forward thinking legislation that should be passed immediately. This bill represents a significant and long overdue milestone that will help create jobs and move our nation’s transportation system forward.
The common-sense, long-term funding in this bill provides the certainty working people need to help grow our economy. It proves how good faith, bi-partisan efforts can get things done that are good for everyone. Let’s finish the job and move America forward.
