(Washington, DC) Hundreds of working people, community, religious and labor leaders picketed outside Trump Hotel DC demanding Trump negotiate with his Las Vegas hotel workers who won a union election in December 2015.
“I am in awe of the brave women and men at Trump Hotel in Las Vegas, many of them immigrants like me, who stand up to corporate bullying every day,” said AFL-CIO Executive Vice President Tefere Gebre. “Enough is enough! It’s time for Trump to obey the law and negotiate with his Las Vegas hotel workers.”
The diverse group of speakers today included Rep. Chris Van Hollen (D-MD); Jamie Raskin, Maryland State Senator; Chris Shelton, CWA President; Sara Nelson, AFA-CWA President; Elizabeth Falcon, Executive Director DC Jobs With Justice; Carlos Jimenez, Metro Washington Council and Joshua Armstead, UNITE HERE 23 Member. They delivered a letter to the Managing Director of Trump’s DC Hotel asking him to urge his boss to negotiate.
With social media playing a large part in the Presidential election, the AFL-CIO used Snapchat geofilters for the first time at today’s rally. The four geofilters covered the area right around the hotel. Using Snapchat is a way for the AFL-CIO to reach a broader audience. You can view the four geofilters here.
