Resolution Overturning Modernized Union Election Rules for Airline and Rail Workers

September 23, 2010 | S.J.Res. 30
The National Mediation Board issued a new rule in May 2010 that calls for the majority of votes cast to determine the outcome of union representation elections for airline and rail workers—in the same way elections are decided in congressional and other democratic elections. Previously, a worker who did not cast a vote was instead counted as "No" vote. This resolution of disapproval would roll back the NMB's democratic, union representation election rule. The motion to proceed to consider the measure was rejected in the Senate.
